AREVA offers a line of SF6-insulated combined current and voltage transformers from 115 kV up to 765 kV system voltage for metering, protection, and indication applications.

Combined units are assembled in the same manner as single units, except in a larger diameter insulator.

Advantages of using combined SF6-insulated units are:

• More cost-effective than buying separate inductive VTs and CTs (using a capacitor voltage transformer and current transformer is normally the most cost-effective option)
• Only one support structure is required, thus reducing installation costs and space requirements
• Only one set of connectors is required
• Simplifies wiring
• Offers improved inventory flexibility
